Best friend鈥檚 due date is in December. She lives on other coast. Advice on booking flights?

That's the scenario. The challenge is that the actual date of the birth is a big unknown. As everybody knows, the baby can come early; the baby can come late. It seems like booking flights at the last-minute would be extremely expensive. Plus, being around the holidays, flights might not even be available if we wait too long to book. On the other hand, how can we book early? It's also expensive to change a ticket at the last minute.

Anybody have any advice? I'm sure others have been in the same situation. How did you handle this?Best friend鈥檚 due date is in December. She lives on other coast. Advice on booking flights?
Try to come a few days before the due date or a week or two. Depends on how long you can take off from work or whatever.Best friend鈥檚 due date is in December. She lives on other coast. Advice on booking flights?
Quite honestly, the last thing I wanted after I gave birth was visitors. Give her some time to get into a routine with her baby and then see if she even wants you to visit.
If you have to be there to look after other children well then I would book 1 week a head. Other wise if you are going to enjoy the thrill of the new baby with your friend then I would only book a day or 2 before the due date. They are quite good at picking the date with in a day or 2 these days unless the un expected happens. Or you have the choice to book a couple of days after the due date maybe a week even, that gives the dad and mother time to bond with baby and it will be a great pleasure for her to be waiting the day you arrive to show off baby. The mother will be feeling a lot less stress if you wait and it happens to be a week or so later and she will have time to get into her routine.
